Principal Product Manager, API Services

Remote-first | timezones UTC-5 to UTC+3

Argyle is a fast-growing remote-first Series B startup that has reimagined how we access and use employment data.

At Argyle, we recognize that employment data is owned by the individual it represents. By building the first gateway to employment data, we’re unlocking a dataset that has been monopolized by a single giant corporation (name omitted because of decorum) for 70 years. In turn, we’re making it easier, faster, better, wiser for innovative companies to put employment data to work for their users, enabling access to products and services that improve lives.

If you rent an apartment, buy a car, refinance a home, apply for a loan — the first question you’ll often be asked, “how do you make money?“. You’d think information so foundational to our economy would be simple to manage, transfer and control — but it isn’t.

Argyle is the easiest way for people to instantly share their income and employment data with any product or service. Users exercise complete control over how their data is accessed, and businesses receive real-time access to this data via the Argyle API.

Our team is a fun and passionate group of people, working remotely across 24 countries and counting. Learn more about our team on our about page.

About the team

Your team is in charge of a number of engineering-heavy products, including (but not limited to) Argyle’s Pay Distribution and API. It also owns Argyle’s Sandbox experience, Webhooks, and is spearheading a number of Argyle’s moonshots. This team also extensively collaborates with other products like Link and Console to ensure best UX and parity between Argyle’s code-first and no-code product suites.

What will you do? Argyle is looking for a PPM to own a suite of products and features, which are powered by Argyle’s core systems (e.g. Django-based API). This includes but is not limited to:

  • Bringing our Pay Distribution product to maturity, which requires achieving a full feature set while managing the product’s client-facing complexity
  • Revamping our Sanbdox experience so it becomes both more realistic (e.g. what data it returns to our clients) and comprehensive (enabling clients to encounter all Production-like scenarios in Sandbox [user flows, potential latency, errors, etc.])
  • Scaling our MVP offering around webhooks
  • Driving the development of Argyle’s API v2 from the Product perspective
  • Identifying additional product-focused growth levers and building out new product experiences to take advantage of them

What are we looking for?

  • Experience PM-ing a technical product (bonus points for an API-first product; at least some familiarity with RESTful API and tools like Postman a pre-requisite).
  • Hypothesis- and data-driven approach + ability to ruthlessly prioritize. Bifocal Product lenses for both the bigger picture and the fine details for whatever you take on. Building the right Product right will require an intimate understanding of how our systems work and interconnect as well as thinking from first principles about the problems we're aiming to solve.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with people in a wide range of roles — engineering, analytics, (revenue) operations, QA, and sales being the primary ones.
  • A desire for ownership and autonomy. “It doesn't make sense to hire smart people and tell them what to do. We hire smart people so they can tell us what to do.”

Why Argyle?

  • Remote first company
  • International environment
  • Flexible working hours
  • Stock Options
  • Flexible vacation leave
  • Annual Company Performance Bonus
  • $1,000 after a month of employment to set up your home office.
  • MacBook

Argyle embraces diversity and equal opportunity. We are committed to building a team that represents a variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and skills. We believe the more inclusive we are, the better our company will be.
