Direct-Source Discourse Episode 3: Multi-functional Tech Matters to Kristy DeMarcus

Acopia Home Loans Senior Vice President of Operations Kristy DeMarcus joins Argyle’s Rowdy Harris for our latest episode of Direct-Source Discourse to discuss the value of multi-faceted technology and the importance of internal buy-in to promote borrower adoption of new technologies.

Kristy didn’t plan on working in mortgage; originally, she envisioned a career in education. But after finding her way to the industry through a referral from a friend, she soon realized it was exactly where she was meant to be.

“I think in order to be successful in anything, you have to be passionate about what you do,” Kristy said. “And while this may not have been what I dreamed of when I was young, I absolutely love working in mortgage now.”

Kristy DeMarcus began as a loan processor and has worked in the mortgage industry for more than 20 years. For the last 15 years she has worked at Acopia, where her extensive industry experience and technology expertise have seen her excel as a leader and help drive Acopia’s success.

Outside of work, Kristy helps train the next generation of mortgage professionals as a member of Middle Tennessee State University’s Mortgage Mastery Instructor Corps. In that capacity, she recently led a presentation on the nuances of income calculation for mortgage qualification.

Considering her professional accolades, we wanted to ask Kristy her thoughts on navigating the current mortgage landscape. Though she may not be able to wave a magic wand to bring rates down, Kristy’s experience allows her to provide valuable insight into maintaining high standards of customer service and compliance in a challenging market.
