In our latest episode of Direct-Source Discourse, American Security Mortgage Corp’s Jenni Wirt joins Argyle’s Rowdy Harris to dig into the high costs of closing and the power of effective technology adoption to help borrowers.
Jenni started working in the mortgage industry 28 years ago, after a brief stint as a math teacher. Beginning in underwriting, Jenni has taken every opportunity to learn more about the industry, leading to her current role as an Operations Manager.
“I took a sort of working holiday for a couple of years,” Jenni said. “I had an operations partner who taught me so many new skills, from more on credit reporting to advanced Excel skills I’ve used ever since.”
As the cost of mortgage has gone up, Jenni’s concern for her borrowers has increased. She always focuses on her primary role as a lending professional: helping borrowers achieve their homeownership dreams. Jenni highlighted the role of technology, and the importance of carefully curating a lender’s tech stack to provide the most effective solutions, rather than the most expensive.
“If I could wave a magic wand, I’d take away all the crazy costs someone’s got to pay for—often the borrower,” Jenni said.
